William "Billy" Shawn Wiggins

William “Billy” Shawn Wiggins, 65 of Mount Pleasant, SC, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023.

Born on September 26, 1957, in Moncks Corner, SC, William was a son of the late Gloria Wilson Wiggins and Huel Wiggins.

Billy steadfastly served our local community with twenty-five years of law enforcement and civil service. Rising through the ranks, he proudly retired from Charleston County Sheriff’s Office as a Captain. He then ventured to California and worked for Cisco Systems, Inc. in San Jose, CA for thirteen years before returning home to South Carolina to help support his extended family. Billy had two beautiful children with his former wife, Brenda Wiggins, and those two children later blessed the family with eight wonderful grandkids. in 1988 he met his current life partner and husband, Ken Hook; together they have shared a wonderful simple committed loving life for over 34 years. He loved to share his free time with family and friends, honing his craft of stained-glass art, and traveling.

William is preceded in death by his father, Huel Wiggins and his mother, Gloria Nell Wiggins; his brother, Robert Marlin “Robbie” Wiggins; his son, Bryan David Wiggins and his daughter, Brandy Nicole Wiggins.

William is survived by his husband, Kenneth Hook; the mother of his two children and former wife, Brenda Wiggins; his sister, Kim Roper; grandchildren: Sydney Denise Jackson, Brandon Wiggins, Joshua David Wiggins, Dylan Shawn Pipkin, Tyler Anthony Pipkin, Berklee Wiggins, Wyatt Ryder Wiggins and Dakota Rain Wiggins Martin; and great-grandchildren, McKenna Wiggins and Rico Wiggins. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation to receive family and friends will be on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home Mount Pleasant located at 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC. The memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 7:00 pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home Mount Pleasant.
