William Thomas West, 61, husband and “Keeper of the Heart” of Caroline Welch West, of Charleston, entered Heaven on “Champagne” Thursday, March 9, 2017.
Willie was born on February 10, 1956 in Charleston, SC to Amile C. West, Sr. and Doris Rivers West. He is survived by his “Redline” wife, as well as three phenomenal children, Ryan McConnell West, William Carter West, and Caroline Isabel West, and his sister, Betty W. Walker (Frank) of Greenville. He is predeceased by his parents as well as his big brother, Amile C. West, Jr. (Sandra Greene).
Willie lead an extraordinary life. God, his family, and music were his truest passions. He was a gifted drummer, letter writer, listener, “coffee boy”, bed maker, foot warmer, hand holder, friend to multitudes, and “Warrior". Willie exemplified kindness, grace, mercy, and loyalty. His children made his beautiful blue eyes exude joy. Willie and Caroline are soulmates and together they truly enjoyed the passing of time. In brief, it is truly challenging to sum up Willie’s life because he was and always will be so very much to so very many.
Burial will be private. A service of Thanksgiving, Praise and Worship will take place at 11am, Tuesday March 14, 2017 at Coastal Community Church, 460 Arlington Drive, Charleston, SC 29414, followed by a reception at the James Island Yacht Club, 734 Wampler Drive, James Island, SC 29412.
