William T 'Billy' Conlon

November 15, 1927 — January 26, 2014

William T. “Billy” Conlon William Theodore “Billy” Conlon, 86, of Charleston, SC died on Sunday, January 26, 2014 in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. He was born on Tuesday, November 15, 1927 in Charleston, SC. Billy, after a brief illness, has joined his brother Garry, “Junior”, in heaven. Billy and Junior were original recyclers, hauling many a pick-up load of newspapers back in the days when cash money was paid for their enterprise. “The boys” also trolled the Lower Peninsula, bringing home assorted weed whackers and a variety of stuff needing a second chance, after some repairs. The youngest of three, Billy followed his older sister, Mary Frances, in the neighborhood productions of Traynor Ferillo. Billy enjoyed photography from an early age, and recorded family and friends from baptisms to weddings, holidays and parties. He always had the latest camera. Billy was predeceased by his parents, Garret Aloysius Conlon and Theodosia Rabb Conlon; his brother, Garret A. Conlon Jr.; and his nieces, Anne Marie Dobson (Gary) and Elizabeth Conlon Blackwell. Billy is survived by his sister, Mary Frances Bischoff (Richard); his nephews, Alan B. Bischoff (Carol) and Richard J. Bischoff Jr. (Tina, deceased) and his three children: Christian, Olivia and Nicholas; his cousin, Joyce Dunaway (Gene, deceased) and her sons, Trayser and Rhett Dunaway; his cousin, Michael Robinson (Carolyn Epperly) and their daughters, Keely Conlon, Ciara Epperly and Caitrin Bridgit Robinson. Uncle Billy is also survived by a great niece, Melissa Peckham (Steve); and great nephews, Brian Dobson, Rhett Leonard and Kevin Blackwell. Billy graduated from Bishop England High School and shortly after, was called up for a brief stint in the Army, stationed in Hawaii. Returning home, Billy started work with GEER Drug Co., and retired after 35 years. Billy was devoted and faithful to the Catholic Church, first at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (Anson Street) and then St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Uncle Billy was a very good dancer and when the big bands played, he was on the dance floor. Billy will miss his neighbors of 32 years, Bill and Karen and everyone who made Ansonborough special. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, MT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1520 RIFLE RANGE RD., MT PLEASANT, SC . A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 10:30 AM, with Father Patrick Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence cemetery.
