Tulsa, OK – Dr. William Kenneth (Ken) Pooser, 83, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 in Charleston, SC. He was born January 14, 1931 in Charleston, SC. Ken was the son of the late Ira Dibble Pooser, Sr. and Leanora Jenkins Pooser. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris A. (Teri) Orwin Pooser; a step-daughter, Jacqueline Ethel Stevens; a brother, Ira D. Pooser, Jr.; sister-in-law, Margie Drawdy Pooser; and nephews, Donald Pooser and Robert Pooser. He is survived by a nephew, Dr. Fred G. Pooser (Frances) of Charleston, SC; great nephew, Rob Pooser (Lori) of Charleston, SC; son-in-law, Richard Stevens of Tulsa, OK; and several step-grandchildren and great-great nieces. Ken graduated from Charleston High School and went on to obtain a Bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston, a Master’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a Doctorate degree from the University of Kansas. He served the military in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Gregory DD802. After serving in active duty he joined the Navy Reserves and he was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant in 1967. He was a member of “The Tin Can Sailors†and enjoyed meeting with his colleagues every year in California. Ken retired as a Geologist from Cities Services Company and formed a Geological Consultant business and was involved very actively in that business until his wife’s illness. Ken will be remembered for his wonderful personality. He was a person that loved his family and enjoyed every moment that he spent with them. A day spent with “Kenny†was a day of fun and laughter. A graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Ft. Johnson Rd., James Island, SC, Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM.
