William H. McGurk

William Hart McGurk, 91, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015. He was born on Sunday, July 27, 1924 in Montclair, NJ to the late Mildred Hart McGurk and the late William James McGurk. Besides his parents, William is preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Louise Cockerill McGurk “I was especially blessed that I met my Louise, who somehow loved me enough to become my wife, my lover, and my best friend, and to have been my source of strength and comfort for 72 years. Her smile lit up my life from the first day I met her, and I was always able to contend with any stress or crisis in life or business, because she was always there. She was the wind beneath my sails.” William H. McGurk “Big Mac” is survived by two sons: Bill McGurk and his wife, Karen, of Poway, CA and Bob McGurk and his wife, Jacki of Empire, CO; daughter, Susan Norman and her husband, Jeffry, of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren: Joshua McGurk, Kindra Sclar, Julia Wood, Taegen Haller, Dylan McGurk and Emily Norman; and seven great-grandchildren: William James McGurk, Jackson McGurk, Kaleb Sclar, Wyatt McGurk Wood, Indiana McGurk Wood, Ava Haller, Liam Haller. A graveside service will be held at Live Oak Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at 11:00 AM.
