William “Fred†Wellman, 79, of Northbrook, IL, went to his eternal rest on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his family. Born May 10, 1937, in Holden, WV, he was the son of the late Paris and Gleema (Hensley) Wellman of Logan, WV. Fred was the owner and operator of Wellman’s Auto in Evanston, IL for more than forty five years. He enjoyed serving his loyal customers and mechanics was his passion. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, traveling and living life to its fullest. Fred served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 42, Evanston, IL and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 376 in Morton Grove, IL. He is survived by his wife of fifty five years, Carol (McFarland) Wellman; daughter and son-in-law, Terese and Todd Rademacher of Goose Creek, SC; sister, Dorothy Brackins of New Market, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Inez Wellman of Ladson, SC; sister, Delores Wyatt of Bucyrus, OH and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives. A memorial service honoring William “Fred†Wellman will be held Monday, January 2, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL.
