William Franklin Collins

August 15, 1934 — June 5, 2014

William F. Collins, 79, of Goose Creek, passed away June 5, 2014. Born in Hilda, SC, he was the son of the late Perry and Rebecca Carroll Collins and husband to Janpen Collins. He joined the Air Force at age eighteen and proudly served his country for twenty two years, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. After his military service, he worked and retired from Cummins. Mr. Collins helped start Our Father’s House Church in North Charleston and he played guitar in the Harmony Christian Band. He enjoyed playing his guitar, playing golf and he liked old cars. Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Janpen Collins; daughter, Linda North and husband James of Louisville, KY; grandson, Avery Hamrlik of Groton, CT; sister, Jeanette Still and husband Alvin of Barnwell; sister-in-law, Hazel Collins of Denmark. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hilda, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Father’s House, 2242 Wren Street, North Charleston, SC 29406 or The American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406.
