Wesley John Shelton

Wesley John Shelton, 76, of Goose Creek, SC, passed away May 11, 2014. Born Monday, May 24, 1937 in Perry, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Joe Wesley and Austa (Leek) Shelton. He was the husband of Esther Lee Shelton. He served in the Air Force from 1957 to his retirement in 1978 as a refueler and then a computer programmer analyst/supervisor. He was stationed in Bermuda, Turkey, California, Colorado, Alabama, and Myrtle Beach. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he was employed by Lake Wood Campground, Myrtle Beach, SC and was also employed by the SC State Parks system at Myrtle Beach State Park. He also worked for Wal-Mart in Conway and Aiken, SC. Wes liked woodworking and enjoyed being a caretaker of nature. Surviving are three sons, John J. Shelton (Pat) of Goose Creek, SC; Jerry R. Shelton (Debbie) of¬¬¬¬¬¬ Baroda, MI; Jimmie L. Shelton (Yvonne) of New York City, NY and daughter Ms. Theresa Faye DuMont of Mt. Pleasant, SC; four grandsons and one granddaughter. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 15, 2014 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 869 St. James Ave., Goose Creek, SC. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. in Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.
