Wendell Ford

Wendell Ford, 65, of Goose Creek, husband to Virginia Ford (Woods) of 43 years, entered into eternal rest on November 15, 2020, at home in the presence of his wife.

Born on June 20, 1955 in Ellinwood, KS, Wendell was the son of the late Leonard Ray Ford and the late Judith Jean Lathrop.

Wendell had a love for learning and trying new things, and was known by his loved ones as a "Jack of all Trades." He enjoyed many hobbies over the years, from riding his Harley Davidson, scuba diving, sailing, building and maintaining a Koi pond at his home and setting up hydroponics systems. Most recently, Wendell obtained a license as a drone pilot and was doing this professionally, which he loved. He was an entrepreneur, having started and ran a number of small businesses over the years. Wendell was a Corporal in the Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve, and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, and received a Meritorious Mast recognition.

Besides his wife, Wendell is survived by two daughters, Daytona Dawson (Robert) of Summerville, SC and Olive Henry (Lionel) of Columbia, SC, along with four grandsons: Cartel Dawson, Cashis Dawson, Raion Henry, and Hastin Henry; a brother, Royce Lathrop; three nephews and two nieces. Wendell was preceded in death by his sister, Michele Gann.

The graveside service and burial will be held at Beaufort National Cemetery Thursday, November 19 at 2:00 pm.
