Wayne Mitchell Smith

Wayne Mitchell Smith, 62, of Goose Creek, SC passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024.

Born on October 7, 1961 in Key West, FL, he was the son of the late Eleanor Smith Varnes.

Wayne had served as an elder at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses for over 25 years serving in Maryland, North Carolina, Georgia, and South Carolina. He faithfully demonstrated a self sacrificing spirit in caring for the physical and spiritual needs of others in the congregations he had served. Wayne enjoyed fishing, board games, and traveling.

Wayne is preceded in death by his mother.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Cheryl Smith; his son, Wayne Donavon Smith; his daughter, Natalie Vaughn; his sisters, Priscilla Varnes and Anita Orengo; his brother, Andre Varnes; Evon Pettigrew; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, 869 St. James Ave., Goose Creek, SC 29445.
