Virgilio Nazario, 98, of Moncks Corner entered into eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
Born on October 8, 1925 in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico he was one of four children of the late Vitalia Ortiz Ramirez and the late Ricardo Nazario.
Virgilio had a full life starting with his schooling at the Mayaguez Vocational High School. He served in the Army and fought in the Korean War. He then enlisted in the Navy, where he worked on the missile program at White Sand Proving Ground. He retired after 30 years of service.
He ended his military career with a retirement from the Navy in 1987. He retired from Civil Service working at Navelex.
Virgilio was very active in the church and became an ordained deacon. He was loved by many and was known as Grandpa to everyone. He loved the Lord and faithfully served the church and is now resting at the feet of his savior.
Virgilio is survived by his spouse, Elba Nazario; his grandsons, Michael Nazario and Edgar David; his granddaughters, Christine, Alba, Sarah, and Ashley; his great-grandchildren, Tobias, Rebecca, Sofia, Jonathan, Isabelle, Samuel, Noemi, and Gabriel; and his great-great-grandson, Wyatt.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:00am at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, 869 St. James Ave., Goose Creek, SC 29445.
There will be a graveside service held on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 11:00am at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St., Beaufort, SC 29902.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America or a tree could be planted in his memory.
