Virgil Max Lumley, 66, of North Charleston, SC, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016. He was born on Sunday, June 12, 1949, in Charleston, SC, son of the late Virgil William Lumley. Virgil was a very skilled carpenter, and loved working with his hands. He enjoyed fishing and gigging. Virgil spent every summer with his family at S & S Campground in Cross, SC. He was a citizen band radio enthusiast, whose handle was “Red Roosterâ€. His family will remember him as “Gray Daddy Maxâ€. Besides his father, Virgil is preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Nelson Lumley and his daughter, Jennifer Anne Lumley. He is survived by his son, Kenneth Lumley and his wife, Kristal, of Johns Island, SC; two grandchildren: Shayna and Sydnee Lumley of Johns Island, SC; one sister, Raynette Garner and her husband, Bobby, of TX; nephew, Lester Dempsey and his wife, Vicky, of Ladson, SC; three great-nephews; and many other loving family members and friends The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel, where her funeral service will immediately follow.
