Violet E Dawson

April 4, 1926 — February 19, 2015

Violet E. Dawson, 88, of James Island, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015. She was born on April 4, 1926 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina to the late Leo Dawson and Leonora DeAntonio Dawson. In addition to being a homemaker and caring for family, she was an administrative assistant with RC Motor Lines then worked for and retired from Yellow Freight. For many years she was an active member of Stella Maris Catholic Church and then after moving to Johns Island was a member of The Church of the Nativity Catholic Church. Violet also enjoyed traveling and camping with friends and family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel D. Riggins and 2 brothers, Leland A. Dawson and Richard I. Dawson. Survivors include a brother, Robert H. Dawson of Clinton, SC and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00am Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Ft. Johnson Rd., Charleston, SC with Fr. Thomas Kingsley officiating. The family visitation will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Bishop Gadsden Resident Assistance Fund, 2 Bishop Gadsden Way, Charleston, SC 29412.
