Dr. Vincent P. Lannie, 86, of Charleston and husband of Joanne Lannie, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017.
Vince was born on May 30, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Joseph and Margaret Lannie. He was a Columbia University Alumnus who was a dedicated and well respected professor at Case Western Reserve, New York University, University of Notre Dame and College of Charleston. Vince was a man who valued academic excellence, pursued the life of the mind, and was a strong-willed man of common sense. He will be remembered for his devotion to family and generosity to all.
In addition to Joanne, his wife of 46 years, survivors include his sons, Christian Lannie and Randall Lannie (Lorena); grandchildren, Nathan, Sebastian, Dylan, Alexandra, GraceAnn and Isaiah; and his sister, Marie Lannie.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, October 20, 2017 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island Chapel. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM.
A Latin Requiem Mass will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, 1204 Middle Street, Sullivans Island, SC 29482.
Rite of Committal will follow the service at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bishop Gadsden Residents Assistance Fund, 1 Bishop Gadsden Way, Charleston, SC 29412.
