With great sadness, we announce the all too soon passing of Vana Koerner on December 18th , 2024, at her home in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. She will be profoundly mourned by her husband, Kevin, son Jack, daughter Vivienne, her parents, Gerry and Youla Mikytyshyn, sister Susan (Scott) Mikytyshyn, Parents-in-Law, Ken and Audrey Koerner, brothers and sisters-in-law, Julie and Rick Morris, Danny and Alice Koerner, Matt and Kristin Koerner, Laura and Andrew Stewart, her nieces and nephews, Olivia, Kenny, Sam, Lena, Henry, Pete and Caroline.
Vana will be greatly missed by the many friends she made as an Occupational Therapist upon graduating from the University of Alberta in 1993. Friends in Calgary, Las Vegas, Chattanooga, New Orleans, and ultimately, Baltimore, MD at the Johns Hopkins Medical Center. Baltimore was very dear to her heart; it is where she married Kevin, gave birth to Jack and Vivi, cheered on the Ravens and supported the many, many friends made during her two decades there.
In 2018, the Koerners moved to Mount Pleasant, and Vana's bright light continue to draw in incredible friends. She was an amazing person who was kind and authentic to everyone she met. She impacted many lives, especially those of her patients, whom she cared so much about. She loved the Low Country, it's beaches, the food and hosting the many friends and family that visited.
Vana was spirited, adventurous and a tireless supporter of Jack and Vivi and their many sports and activities. She was a Mom for all Sports and will be greatly missed by all.
We want to thank all of our friends and family who continue to show kindness and support for our family today and over the past two years.
Services for Vana will be held at 10:30 am, on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Stella Maris Catholic Church, 1204 Middle Street, Sullivans Island, SC 29482.
