V. Kenneth Hauer

   Vernon Kenneth Hauer, age 73, passed away on February 22, 2024 in Charleston, SC. Born in Baltimore City, MD, Ken was the son of the late Henry and Mary (Schrenker) Hauer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Claire (Sandvick) Hauer.

   Ken earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Towson State University. During his career, he was employed as a computer programmer, primarily for the Baltimore County Government. After retirement from Baltimore County, he worked in computer operations for the Harford County Government. Additionally, Ken contributed to local parks and museums during his retirement.

   Ken had a lifetime interest in sports and exercise. In high school, he excelled in Varsity Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball. In his adult life, he continued to play basketball, skied at his local resort, and consistently exercised at local gyms. He enjoyed watching his children’s sporting activities and coached his son's youth basketball team. In addition to sports, Ken was interested in economics and loved the beach. Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time with his neighbors, friends, and family, especially while sharing steamed crabs.

   Ken is survived by his sons, Ryan Hauer (Whitney) and Michael Hauer; grandchildren Genevieve and Wyatt; brother Jeff Hauer (Sandy); sister Mary Lynn Phillips; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
