It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tyler K. Persun of Mount Pleasant, SC, a beloved husband, father, brother, son, and friend, on January 10, 2025, after a short illness. Tyler was a young man of profound faith, compassion, humor, and grace, whose unwavering belief in God and devotion to his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He was 35 years old.
Born on April 9, 1989, Tyler grew up in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, where he was known for his kind spirit, infectious smile, competitive drive on the baseball diamond, and deep compassion for others. From a young age, he dedicated himself to living a life marked by love, generosity, and integrity.
Tyler married the love of his life, Brielle Colby, on November 18, 2023. Together, they built a home filled with joy, laughter, and faith. Their greatest blessing came with the birth of their son, Colby Thomas on August 26, 2024, who brought endless happiness to Tyler’s life. As a husband and father, Tyler was devoted, loving, and steadfast, always putting his family’s needs above his own.
His early love of sports later became a professional devotion when he graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Fitness Management. Tyler touched the lives of many through his years as a coach for Elite Baseball and the York College of Pennsylvania Baseball team, mentoring young athletes on and off the field. He was also a 2007 graduate of Donegal High School in Mount Joy, PA. Tyler was a source of encouragement and strength to all who knew him, often sharing words of hope and faith that uplifted those around him. His legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brielle, and his cherished son, Colby Thomas, as well as his parents, Scott and Debra Persun of Mount Joy, PA; a sister, Nicole (Theodore) Schnieders and niece, Samantha of Pittsburgh, PA; grandparents Sandra and Ray Leach of Elizabethtown, PA his Mother and Father-in-law, Jerry and Teri Colby of Mount Pleasant; and a brother-in-law, Ryan Colby of Washington, DC, as well as extended family and countless friends.
Tyler was preceded in death by his grandparents, Max and Shirley Persun of Mount Joy, PA and Ronald Freed Sr. of Mount Joy, PA.
A celebration of Tyler’s life will be held in South Carolina on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 10:30 am at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church on Sullivan’s Island, 1204 Middle St, Sullivan's Island, SC 29482. Family and friends will be received at the McAlister-Smith Funeral Home,1520 Rifle Range Rd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
A second celebration of Tyler’s life will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Sheetz Funeral Home in Mount Joy, PA. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home for a time of visitation from 3:30 PM until the time of the service.

While we grieve his loss deeply, we take comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of his Heavenly Father, at peace and free from pain. Tyler will forever be remembered for his unshakable faith, devotion to family, his boundless love, and his enduring kindness.
