Tristan Brooks Atkinson

March 1, 1979 — April 14, 2018

Tristan Brooks Atkinson, aged 39, of Charleston, SC ceased to exist on April 14 after a glorious and heroic fight with pancreatic cancer. He was a Pisces and his spirit animal was the lion.

Tristan could be crotchety and stubborn at times and disliked many things. Among them were: people (especially extreme liberals, snowflakes, liars and whiners); Smart Cars; left lane riders; cheap tools; doing things "the easy way”; most things made in China; small dogs; all cats; trucks lifted to the extreme; hypocrisy; girly beards, especially on men that couldn’t change a spark plug if their lives depended on it; hipsters; up-state drivers; “work-out clothes” worn anywhere other than the gym; laziness; speed limits; not dressing for dinner; Microsoft; political correctness.

He also loved many things including every day of his life. He loved his Wife, Fiona, his son Gaines and his family with every ounce of his being. They were absolutely everything to him. He loved Charleston, especially seeing “Morgan Freeman” walking down Savannah Highway. He loved BBQ, beer and champagne. He was a man of principal and also a man of contradictions. He could accomplish anything he set his mind to and never found a task too difficult or insurmountable. He loved the aesthetic and finding beauty in every-day things. He had only one regret in his life; leaving his wife and son so early.

Tristan is survived by his amazing wife and soulmate, Fiona; his incredibly wonderful son Gaines Alastair; his father, Stephen; his mother Deanna; his grandmother Betty Williamson; his grandmother Victoria Fluharty; his father and mother-in-law Lyle and Evelyn Baker; his brother-in-law Jeremy Baker; his brother and sister-in-law Michael and Heidi Jameson and his niece and nephew Emma and Harry Jameson; his golden retriever “April” and his springer spaniel “Emma.”

He was preceded in death by his Afghan Hound “Tootsie” and his Springer Spaniel “Sally.”

A celebration of Tristan's life will be held at a date and time yet to be determined.
