Thomas C. Smith, 75, of Charleston and husband of Carolyn Smith, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017.
Tommy (Pappy) was born on June 4, 1942 in Charleston, SC to the late Charles W. and Lester Rantin Smith. His love of baseball led him to play minor league ball with the Statesville Owls and he was a fixture at all sporting events on James Island. He loved shagging, cooking for crowds and was known for his delicious boiled peanuts. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to Carolyn, his wife of 53 years, survivors include his daughters, Cami Fissel and Clarissa Sawyer (Scott); grandchildren, Johnathan Fissel, Casey Fissel, Kyle Sawyer, Abbie Sawyer and Adam Sawyer; brothers, Arnie Smith (Sheila) and Russell Smith (Robbin) and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tommy was predeceased by his brother Charlie Smith.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island Chapel.
