Thomas Harrison Byrd

Thomas Harrison Byrd, 75, of Goose Creek, SC passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

Born on December 13, 1948, in Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Clara St. Germain Byrd and the late Thomas Byrd and the husband of the late Sandra Jean Byrd.

Thomas is survived by his brothers, Harold Byrd and Leonard Byrd (Lisa); his sister, Frances Collins (Mike); his sister-in-law, Anita Richburg; his nephew, Charles Byrd; his nieces, Geneiva Anderson (Robert), Christina Collins, and Grace Broadwater (Dustin); and many other family members. Thomas will also be greatly missed by his two Mastiffs, Bob and Maggie.

Thomas served in the United States Air Force from 1967-1971 and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. After serving his country, Thomas was an accomplished civil servant working at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and then moved on to be a certified Marksman and maintenance man with the Department of Corrections. Thomas was a member of the Law Riders Motorcycle Club and the Tri County Fraternal Order of Police.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, 869 St. James Ave., Goose Creek, SC 29445.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 10:00am also at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, 869 St. James Ave., Goose Creek, SC 29445 to be immediately followed by the burial at 11:00am at Whispering Pines Memorial Gardens, 3044 Old Hwy. 52, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tri County Fraternal Order of Police (Lodge #3) Distressed Officer Fund or the SPCA.
