Dr. Thomas Arthur Newton, 59, of Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest with his family by his side on October 14th, 2016. He was born on Tuesday, September 3, 1957 in Sparta, WI to Mrs. Genevieve Mary Newton and the late Mr. Clarence Arthur Newton. Dr. Newton was a practicing physician since 1984. He is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Newton is board certified in Emergency Medicine and is a member of several organizations including the American College of Emergency Medicine, the American College of Physician Executives, and the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society. Dr. Newton spent 11 years in the U.S Navy, rising to the rank of Commander. While he spent many hours serving others, he also cherished the time spent with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Cynthia Leona Newton, of Charleston, SC; mother, Genevieve Mary Newton, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Daughter, Holly Marie Newton Al-Khalil (Shadi), of Lubbock, TX; Son, Nicolaus Thomas Newton, of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Norah and Maya; brother, Michael Newton (Janet), of Plymouth, WI; sister, Mary Rozek (Bob), of Bluffton, SC; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Hollings Cancer Center Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, 18 Bee Street, MSC 450, Charleston, SC 29425 and Hospice Center of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt.
