Stephen Anthony Castellucci

September 7, 1958 — April 15, 2021

Stephen Anthony Castellucci, 62, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, husband of 32 years to Cheryl Jarrett Castellucci, entered eternal rest on April 15, 2021, surrounded by his wife and son.

Born on September 07, 1958 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Stephen was the youngest child of the late Peter Joseph Castellucci and Josephine Dolores Cirucci Castellucci. Stephen quickly learned the meaning of family and hard work. As a 2nd generation entrepreneur, Stephen followed his father into the restaurant business in and around the Philadelphia area before following his father down to the Charleston area in 1982. They quickly made a name for themselves with successful restaurants in Goose Creek, downtown Charleston, and West of the Ashley before opening Philly's in Summerville in 1990. Widely credited with introducing the Cheesesteaks to the Charleston area, he quickly established Philly's as serving the Best Cheesesteaks in Charleston, earning the City Paper's Best of Charleston award for Philadelphia Cheesesteaks ten times and the Post and Courier's Charleston Choice award three times.

Stephen's greatest accomplishment was his son, Stefan, whom he raised with Christian values, teaching him love of God and family. He would beam with pride at the mention of his son's name. Stephen also unreservedly cherished the 32 years of Love he and his wife Cherie (Cheryl) shared. His family would describe Stephen as devoted, generous, kind, humorous, good hearted, a hard worker, and a gentle soul.

Besides his wife, Stephen is survived by his son Stefan Castellucci, who was the pride and joy of his life and his best friend. Stephen instilled into his son a strong work ethic and the drive to create a legacy that his family would be proud of. Stephen is also survived by two sisters, Linda Paula Norris (Mike) and Celia Ann Castellucci; his nieces Andrea Susan Castellucci and Tina Marie Wilson (Robb), and his great-nieces and nephews, Michael Robert Wilson, Matthew Norris Wilson, Maria Catherine Wilson, and Mia Michelle Marcello.

The family will receive friends on April 24th from 1-3 pm at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL & CREMATION, 869 St. James Ave., Goose Creek, SC 29445. The burial will be a Private Ceremony for the Family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Stephen`s memory may be sent to St Jude's Children Hospital.
