Ms. Peggy Atwater, 68, of James Island, SC, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at MUSC. Born on February 9, 1948 in Charleston, SC, she was a daughter of the late Nelson and Marguerite Russell. Peggy was a jeweler and her lifelong passion was creating custom pieces for her friends and family. She also did jewelry repair for numerous jewelry businesses in the Charleston area for many years. Peggy enjoyed gourmet cooking with hot wings being a specialty. She also enjoyed shooting target practice at the range with her friend and business partner, John Adams, where she acquired the nickname “Rambetâ€. Peggy will be remembered as loving, feisty, sister and friend. Survivors include her siblings, Walter Russell (Carole), Heedee Russell (Tami), Neesee Russell all of Charleston area, along with a number of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 1:00pm Friday, January 6, 2017 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island Chapel. The family will receive friends at 12 noon, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
