Shawn Gregory Gilliam

Shawn Gregory Gilliam, 27, of Ladson, died January 17, 2016. He was born in Charleston on March 26, 1988, to his parents Patricia Newman and William G. Gilliam. Shawn graduated from Goose Creek High School in 2006. He was a self employed roofer and worked in construction for many years. His hobbies included, hunting, fishing, and hanging out with his dog, Ciroc. Shawn was a very hard worker and generous person, and his family and close friends will miss him dearly. Survivors include his mother, Patty (Peter) Newman; his father Greg Gilliam, his sister, Shannon Gilliam; grandmother, Betty Gilliam, aunts and uncles, Theresa (Jerry) Britton, Kathy Judd, Chrissy (Albert) Garner, Sandy Gilliam Shanklin, and Jeff Judd. Cousins; Carmen and Melissa Britton, Michael, Rochelle and John Judd, Danielle and Christopher Garner, Alyssa, Kayla and Jayce Britton, Leah and Caroline Judd, and Joshua Shanklin. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Edith Neiheisel and paternal grandparent, William H. Gilliam. A celebration of Shawn’s life will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel.
