Sharon Leigh Pop (Humphries)

ST. MARY'S--Mrs. Sharon Leigh Pop, 61, of Saint Mary’s, GA., and wife of James R. 'Ronnie' Pop, died Monday, January 06, 2014. She was born December 07, 1952 in Covington, VA, the daughter of Mr. Oscar E Humphries and Mrs. Helen L Hayslett Humphries Etling Sharon earned her Master's Degree in Public Administration from Valdosta State University, was an avid reader, substitute teacher and school volunteer. She assisted with an adult reading program in Charleston, SC, loved helping others and worked closely with St. Mary’s United Methodist Church, in St. Mary’s, GA with many Charitable Food Drives. She and Ronnie were married in 1972 at Stella Maris Catholic Church, Sullivan’s Island, SC where she was a Eucharistic Minister and Lay Reader. They were both members of Christ Our King Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, SC. She is survived by her husband of 41 years; her daughter, Rachel L Pop, St. Mary's, GA; her mother, Helen L Humphries Etling (Albert), Goose Creek, SC; two brothers, Larry E Humphries , Williamsburg, VA, , Gary W Humphries (Ginger) Hodges, SC: two sisters, Susan L Graves (Bill), Goose Creek, SC, Karen R Martin (William), Goose Creek, SC; six nieces and six nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Oscar E Humphries. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1520 RIFLE RANGE ROAD. Family and friends will gather from 10 to 11AM, With Service at 11AM. Entombment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, Mount Pleasant, SC.
