Saundra Burnette Faye, 72, wife of Richard Faye of Goose Creek, SC passed away Monday, June 18, 2018 at Trident Medical Center.
Originally from Middlesboro, KY and the daughter of the late Ray and Ruth Burnette, Saundra settled in Charleston after her father retired from the Navy and she began working at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, where she met her husband. Saundra, known by hundreds of children as "Ms. Faye", was a longtime volunteer with Berkeley County Schools. She was a substitute teacher and PTA board member for several years at both Howe Hall Elementary and Goose Creek Primary School. Saundra also volunteered a good bit of her time with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and numerous sports teams for her children.
Saundra is survived by her husband Richard; her brother, Steven Burnette, LCDR, Ret. USN; children, Paula Buckley (Bill), Brian Faye (Sally) MAJ Ret. USA, and LTC Alan Faye, USA; she was Granny to Kirstin Noe (Andrew), Amanda and Matthew Abrams, Ben, Bridget and Brandi Buckley, and Edan, Grady, and Maggie Faye.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 6:00-7:00PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel. The Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 7:00-8:00PM in the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association and/or the American Lung Association.
