Sandra (Jean) Byrd

Sandra (Jean) Richburg Byrd, 60, of Goose Creek, died December 17, 2014. Born in Manning, she was the daughter of Charles Richburg and the late Garon White Richburg. Sandra graduated from Goose Creek High School and worked at Charleston Memorial Hospital and the Medical University of South Carolina. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Byrd of Goose Creek; father, Charles Richburg of Sumter; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She will especially be missed by her Boston Terriers: Dora and Kadra Jean. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Richburg and Bruce Richburg. Funeral service will be held Monday, December 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. Entombment will follow in Whispering Pines Memorial Gardens, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends prior to service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Tri County Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #3, Distressed Officer Fund.
