Samuel James Bennett, 53, of Moncks Corner, passed away June 7, 2017 surrounded by his family and friends.
Born in Alexandria, VA, he was the son of Vera Bennett and the late James S. Bennett. Sam graduated from George Mason University and Charleston Southern University. He worked in compliance for North Charleston Water and Sanitation and was currently volunteering with Berkeley County EMS and Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. Sam was a Master Mason in Goose Creek Lodge, #401. Through the Lodge, he became involved with the DeMolay and Rainbow Girls. He was active in the South Carolina and National DeMolay and recently received an international award through DeMolay. Sam was an active member at Smyrna United Methodist Church. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality and for teaching others to live their life to the fullest.
He is survived by his mother, Vera Bennett of Moncks Corner. Sam is also survived by his Uncles and his cousins, who he loved very much and thought of them as brothers and sisters. He also considered his Brother's from the Masonic Lodge, DeMolay and Rainbow as family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Smyrna United Methodist Church, 724 Cypress Garden Road, Moncks Corner, SC 29461. His casket will be placed in the church one hour prior to service in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
