Rufus Peterson, Sr., 62, of Goose Creek, went home to his heavenly father, April 21, 2017.
Born in Charleston, he was the son of the late Josephine Peterson Davis and husband to Willa Mae Peterson. Rufus worked for Cummins and retired from Kapstone as an engineer. He enjoyed fishing and playing pool. His family will remember Rufus as being able to fix anything, a great educator and a mentor.
He is survived by his wife of forty three years, Willa Mae Peterson; children, Yvonne Newton and husband Elroy of Goose Creek, Khristina Bellamy and husband Rickie of Moncks Corner, Deborah Talley and husband William of Moncks Corner and Rufus Peterson, Jr. of Goose Creek; grandchildren, Andre, Rickie, Shaila, Destiny, Alexia, Breonna, Ashlie, Anthony and Catalya; great grandchild, Amalia; sister, Jeanette Smalls of North Charleston.
Rufus is predeceased by his mother and siblings, Eugenia Peterson, Mary Ann Peterson and Joseph Peterson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Heart to Heart International Ministries, 106 Behrman Street, Moncks Corner. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, North Charleston.
