Roy Michael Hiller, 71 of Johns Island, died Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Roper Hospital. He was born December 9, 1949 in NY, NY, the only son of Murray and Miriam Hiller. Roy grew up in Norwalk, CT, graduated from Carnegie Melon University, and received his M.B.A. from Columbia University.
He worked in CT as an accountant for many years at both the Aetna Insurance Co. and Travelers Insurance. Later he worked in IT Technology for Soundscan and Nielsen Company. He brought a calm sense of humor to each of his roles.
After moving to Johns Island more than 9 years ago, Roy followed his life-long passion for painting and sketching and has shared his art and made many friends in different classes and groups on Johns Island. He studied art at the College of Charleston and was very active in the Charleston Figure Drawing Group.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Audrey Healy Hiller, and his loving daughter Elizabeth Rachel Brown and her husband, David Brown of Norwood, MA; a nephew, William Scott; and a niece, Jennifer Simon. Besides his parents, Roy was predeceased by his sister, Helen O'Neil and his son, Michael Lawrence Hiller. His family is grateful for the kind, loving, thoughtful, funny, and quirky man that Roy was and for the fun and humor that he brought to each occasion.
A memorial service for the Celebration of Roy's life will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 10:30am Unitarian Universalist Church, 4 Archdale Street.
