Roy Greenlee

Roy Greenlee, 81 of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023.

 

Born on December 23, 1941, in Rutherfordton, NC he was the son of the late Margaret Marie (Green) Greenlee and Joe Lane Greenlee, Sr. 

 

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.  He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Carol A. (Leppala) Greenlee , and his three children, Laura G. Droze (Ronald) of Johns Island, Joy L. Greenlee and Roy G. "Pete" Greenlee of West Ashley, and several cousins.

 

Roy spent several years in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman and was also a member of the American Legion.  He worked in the trucking industry for a brief time and transitioned to the paint industry, from which he retired.  He loved attending car shows and even owned his own race car at one time.  As a major hockey fan, he was a longtime season ticket holder for the South Carolina Stingrays and a standing member of the South Carolina Stingrays Booster Association.

 

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Roper Hospice staff for their excellent and compassionate care.

 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 9:00 am - 10:00 am at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 869 St James Ave, Goose Creek, SC 29445.  A service will follow at McAlister-Smith at 10:00 am, with the burial at Whispering Pines Memorial Gardens in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.
