Rose Mary Frost Brown, 81, a native of Charleston, SC, passed away on Sunday morning, January 4, 2015. She was born Sunday, May 14, 1933, in Norfolk, VA, the seventh and youngest child of Mary Becker Frost and Isadore Frost. Rose was a lifelong volunteer, with innovative, creative, and entertaining fundraising ideas. While she had a strong belief in personal and political responsibility, she had a gracious spirit in bringing help to those in need. She was very active in the Republican Women's Club, the National Council of Jewish Women, the King's Daughters Children’s Hospital Charity, the Amity Club of Virginia Beach and involved in numerous political campaigns. Rose had a passion for decorating and a strong love of art. Her family remembers her as a loving wife, mother, grandma and a special friend to many. Along with her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Sam C. Brown, Jr. of Charleston, SC; son, Samuel C. (Shelly) Brown III, of Cordova, TN; daughter, Lisa (Vernon) Whitaker, of Charlotte, NC; and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 12 to 2 pm at the home of Lisa Whitaker, 3026 Ashford Glen Drive, Matthews, NC 28104. A graveside service will be held at Huguenin Ave Cemetery, Huguenin Avenue, Charleston, SC 29401 on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 2:00 pm, with Rabbi Terkel officiating.
