Rose Miranda Bristow

Rose Bristow, a beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity that will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born in 1929 in a small borough in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Rose was one of seven children born to Felix Miranda and Carlina Ortiz. From a young age, she embraced the values of family, love, and gratitude—qualities that defined her throughout her life.

She is survived by her beloved children—Shirley Bristow, Larry E. Bristow Jr., and Joann Terrell—who were the center of her world. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Ben and Alex Terrell and welcomed Cape Terrell as a surrogate grandson with open arms.

One of Rose’s greatest joys was building a home filled with love and laughter alongside her husband, Larry Sr., in Jacksonville, Florida. She found true happiness in the friendships she cultivated there, forming lifelong bonds with neighbors who became like family—Bill & Kathy Cheek, Lynn & Debbie Upchurch, and Dale & Mary Louis.

Rose was a selfless and giving person, always willing to lend a hand to family, friends, and even strangers in need. Her sense of humor and smile were infectious, and she brought joy and laughter into the lives of those around her.

Above all, Rose was profoundly grateful for life’s blessings. She found joy in everyday moments—sharing meals with loved ones, watching her grandchildren grow, and filling her home with warmth and love

Though she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is now with the Lord and at peace, reunited with those she loved in heaven. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of love, generosity, and gratitude will continue to inspire.

A viewing and gathering to celebrate Rose’s life will be held in Mt. Pleasant, SC at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation located at 1520 Rifle Range Rd. Sunday, March 16, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

A graveside service will be held next week in Jacksonville, FL at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation be made to the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville or Tunnel to Towers.
