Ronald Arthur "Ron" Eckman, Sr.

Ronald Arthur Eckman, Sr., 73, of New Kensington, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Born on January 7, 1951 in New Kensington, PA, Ron was a son of the late Gertrude Viola (Huffman) Eckman and Donald Eugene Eckman. He was also a devoted and loving father to daughter Lori and son Ron Jr., a proud grandfather of five grandchildren, and a soon to be great-grandfather to a great-granddaughter.

Ron graduated from Valley High School in New Kensington in 1969 and resided there most of his life. After spending nearly 40 years in the grocery business he retired and moved to Charleston, SC to be closer to his young grandchildren. He was often heard bragging about his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them, watching the Steelers, attending air shows, sporting events, and talking about everything Pittsburgh to people he met in Charleston. Ron was loved and respected by his coworkers and anyone he met because of his humor, kindness, and gentleness.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Eugene and Gertrude Viola (Huffman) Eckman and his brothers Harold Eckman, and William (Pete) Eckman.

Ronald is survived by a daughter, Lori Delancey (Wes) of Charleston, SC; a son, Ronald Eckman, Jr. (Stephanie) of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Austin Delancey, Brayden Delancey, Cassidy Eckman (fiance Conor Murphy), Zachary Eckman (Kristen), and Joshua Eckman (Alexis); brothers, Robert Eckman (Diane), Richard Eckman (Michele), sister, Donna Pelar, brothers, David Eckman (Shirley), Timothy Eckman (Vicki), and Paul Eckman (Terri) as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service is being planned for a later date.
