Ronald Earl Murphy

Ronald Earl Murphy, 71, of Charleston, died May 29, 2015. He was born March 28, 1944 in Indianapolis to the late Bernard and Wilma Murphy. Ron served his country in the United States Marine Corp. After the Marines he attended Indiana University. He retired as a senior manager of transportation from Heinz Corp. Ron enjoyed all things Hoosier, especially IU basketball. Ronald is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joanna Murphy; daughter, Kathleen Sharlow and husband Dennis, of West Covina, CA; Marcia Germain and husband Michael, of Charleston; son, Eric Murphy and his wife Michelle of Dublin, OH; grandchildren, Tristin Sharlow and wife Jasmine; Patrick Sharlow, Grace Murphy, Isabelle Murphy and Charlie Germain; great grandchildren, Ashley Sharlow. He is predeceased by, his son Ronald Murphy Jr. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 10:00 am at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 1106 Fort Drive Hanahan, SC 29410 . A burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 869 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek, SC 29445.
