Ronald 'Dute' Ray Garvin

Ronald Ray “Dute” Garvin, 65, of Johns Island, SC, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015. He was born on Tuesday, May 3, 1949, in Charleston, SC, a son of Louie Frederick Garvin and Virginia Nettles Garvin. Dute was a former employee of Kiawah Island Golf Resort. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing and boating, as well as spending time with his friends. Dute didn’t speak much, but when he did, people listened. His family will remember him as a funny, loving, caring man. He is preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Garvin and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Abigail Garvin. Along with his parents, Dute is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Linda Schneider Garvin of Johns Island, SC; son, Andy Garvin (Kerrie Sadler) of Summerville, SC; daughter, Tanya Garvin Howard of Summerville, SC; brother, Louie Garvin, Jr. (Sandy Young) of Wadmalaw Island, SC; sister, Carolyn “Sissy” Speights (Ray) of Johns Island, SC; six grandchildren: Tyler Garvin, Kaylee Garvin, Isaac Limehouse, IV, Kimberly Garvin, Bradley Howard and Brianna Howard; father-in-law, Kurt Schneider of Charleston, SC; sister-in-law, Margret Schneider (Kevin Clayton) of N. Charleston, SC; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Barney. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 12:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Riverview Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Lowcountry Animal Rescue, P.O.
