Ronald Daniel Petrino, 77, of Daniel Island, Charleston, SC died on Friday, April 6, 2018.
Ronny was born on Thursday, May 2, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Daniel and Estelle Markowitz Petrino.
He graduated from Brooklyn College with honors and began to work in the retail business. He later became the Manager of three Social Security Offices in Brooklyn. In true New York fashion, he and Rudge completed the restoration of a brownstone in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn. In 1991, they left NYC and moved to Charleston and have enjoyed the city and nearby areas ever since. He had a love for old cars, the opera, woodworking, crewelwork, reading and doing his daily morning crossword puzzles. Ronny also always had a gift for cooking and baking, to note his lasagna and pecan pie.
Survivors include his spouse, Rudgely M. Calhoun of Charleston SC; sister, Diana Petrino Kowalewski of Quakertown PA; nephew and niece Daniel and Phyllis Kowalewski, both of Quakertown PA; niece, Dorothy Vallario of Waterbury CT; additional relatives include, Robert and Nancy Calhoun of Daniel Island; Margaret Calhoun and Bill Sigman of Mt. Pleasant; Anne Calhoun and Wink Winkler of Lakeland FL; Ellen Marie Calhoun of Myrtle Beach; nieces and nephews, Amy Calhoun and David Tubre, Chrissy Calhoun and Ryan Wilson of Birmingham, AL; Marie Psaras and Howard Lewis, Suzanna Psaras and Joey Utley, and Christine Psaras of Mt. Pleasant; Julia Winkler and Zack Bennett of Blowing Rock NC; Ryan S Winkler of Richmond, VA; and great nieces and nephews, Madison, Caitlyn, Audrey, Ashlyn, Jacob, and Cal.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his three brothers, Louis, Daniel, and Michael; brother-in-law, Phillip Kowalewski, and everyone’s favorite Aunt Millie.
A visitation will be held, Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, MT. PLEASANT. The Rosary will be led by Father Thomas Kinglsey at 5:00 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be held, Monday April 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Church of the Nativity, 1061 Folly Rd, Charleston, South Carolina, 29412.
