Roger Allen Harshbarger, 74, of Summerville, South Carolina, was joyfully reunited with his beloved parents on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
He was born on March 8, 1950, in Andrews, Indiana. He was a son of the late Mary Beeks Harshbarger and Cleveland Harshbarger.
He will always be remembered as a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. Above all else, he is remembered as a friend to all.
Roger dedicated his life to the service of others.
He was a military veteran who devoted 25 years of service to the United States Air Force, which included many years serving in the Republic of Vietnam Campaign, Operation Desert Shield, and Operation Desert Storm. He retired from the armed forces in June 1993, but not before meeting the love of his life, Tonya Harshbarger, who he married on November 23, 1980.
He eventually settled down with his wife in Summerville, South Carolina, where he was able to fill his days with laughter, joy, family, friends, and love. Without a doubt, he had a lot of love to give. He loved everyone with all his heart and held a special place for each and every person he cared about. His love was unconditional and without judgement.
He made sure he was a stranger to no one and that he made time for others. With Roger, you knew you always had a friend. He was always there with a big smile on his face and a sense of humor to match.
Roger's love for his family and loved ones was rivaled only by his love for golf and Notre Dame Football.
Roger is survived by his wife, Tonya Harshbarger; daughter, Deon (Eddie); son, Frank (Sarah); brother, John Harshbarger (Janice); sister, Marcia Harshbarger Borden (Terry); sister, Arlene Harshbarger Burnworth (Richard); brother, Doran Harshbarger (Teresa); and his 11 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Chapel, Goose Creek.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Chapel, Goose Creek.
