Rodger Michael Diede, 38, of Goose Creek, died March 1, 2015. He was born in Harrisonburg, VA to his parents Roger and Jan Diede. As a child, the military brought him to South Carolina where he resided for over 30 years. Rodger worked as a Furnace Technician at Nucor Steel, however his passion was volunteering at the Goose Creek Rural Fire Department. He met his wife, Kelley, while he was with Berkeley County EMS and he continued to work with Berkeley County SWAT EMS, Charleston County EMS, and Airborne Flight Paramedic in Houston TX. He selflessly supported efforts during Hurricane Katrina. These selfless contributions to society are a true reflection of his character; the enjoyment of helping people and always putting others before himself. He is survived by his wife Kelley Diede; son, Lance Diede; sister, Ranina Diede of Spencer Iowa; niece Ranisha Guzak of Washington state; grandmother, Anna Mackiewicz of Long Island; aunts, uncles, and cousins of New York and South Dakota; and his in-laws, Kathy Hughes of Goose Creek and Robert and Linda Hughes of Oak Ridge, TN; brother in laws, Stuart Hughes of Goose Creek and Bradley Hughes, wife April, and children Landon and Mia of Moncks Corner He is also survived by his brothers and sisters of Emergency Services. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 8, 2015, at 2:00 pm in the Goose Creek Rural Fire Department on Red Bank Rd, Goose Creek.
