Robert Eugene "Bobby" Miller

NORTH CHARLESTON - Robert Eugene " Bobby " Miller, 80, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Bobby was born on May 23, 1942 in Charleston, SC, he is the son of Leroy Miller and Dorothy Thakeray Miller.

Bobby was a lifetime resident of North Charleston where he attended North Charleston High School. He worked for many years and retired from the United States Postal Service. Bobby loved sports and he grew up with his many childhood friends playing football, baseball and basketball anywhere and anytime, on the fields, in the street, in the rain and in the mud; it was all good with him. He was one tough competitor.

From the day he was born, he was a New York Yankees fan. He loved the San Antonio Spurs, Tim Duncan and the Washington Redskins. Bobby loved to sing and his mother arranged voice lessons for him and she loved accompanying him on the piano. He sang in church, in plays and in talent shows at school. Bobby also enjoyed serving with the Kairos Prison Ministry in various positions where he used his singing talent to minister to the residents of Correctional Institutions in South Carolina. Bobby will be remembered as a most generous man, giving freely to many good causes and always looking for someone needing a helping hand. As one of his oldest and dearest friends recently said of him, " Bobby was truly a Rare Creation of God, a more Pure Heart has not existed ".

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents and his loving niece, Tracy Carol Miller. Bobby is survived by his brother, Larry Miller (Sharon) of Charleston and his niece, Lorrie Miller Ferguson (Pete) of Moncks Corner. He is also survived by many members of his extended family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414. A celebration of Bobby's Life will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Seacoast Church, 2049 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC 29407 (located in the West Island Center in West Ashley). Rite of Committal and Interment will follow services at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road in Charleston. A reception will follow the services at the Schieveling Plantation Clubhouse, 3000 MacBeth Creek Drive, Charleston, SC 29407.
