Robert Keith James O’Neal, Jr. of Charleston, South Carolina passed away on May 31, 2020 at the age of 32.
Keith is survived by his parents, Lisa Chavis Butler and Robert Keith O’Neal, Sr.; brothers Brooks Butler and Riese Butler; his maternal grandparents Audrey Chavis, Sr. and Alberta Chavis; his paternal grandmother Gendolyn M. O’Neal; uncles Audrey Chavis, Jr., Christopher Chavis, Richard Scot O’Neal; aunts Deanna Chavis, Linda Renee O’Neal Hughes; Kathryn Gale O’Neal, Deirdre O’Neal Craven; cousins Noah Scott Myatt, Richie Weatherford, West Weatherford, and many other extended family members.
Keith was a true waterman- an avid surfer, boater, diver, and fisherman. He was an all-around athlete and outdoorsman. Keith was a long time resident of James Island and a graduate of James Island Charter High School. Keith studied biology at the University of South Carolina and loved learning and traveling. Keith was strong, hardworking, and always willing to drop what he was doing to help others. Keith’s special soul could be seen through his big smile and deep blue eyes. His kind heart and sense of humor brightened everyone around him.
Keith’s loss is deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who knew him. The Chavis family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with his beloved cousin, AJ Chavis, who predeceased him.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 5, 2020, from 4PM-7PM at 1137 River Rd., Johns Island, SC 29455. Parking is also available at 1141 River Rd.
Please plan to be mostly outdoors and conscientious of COVID-19 concerns. Warm weather is expected and casual attire is encouraged.
