Robert Lee Kaiser, Jr, 69 years old, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. He was the first of five children born to the late Robert Lee and Ursula Salvo Kaiser.
Robert was born with cerebral palsy on February 9, 1953, in Charleston. He attended special education classes at James Simmons Elementary, Laing Middle School and then Moultrie High School where he received his certificate of achievement in 1972. He enjoyed driving his golf cart, helping around the house with chores, and assisting on the farm cutting grass, caring for cows, horses, chickens, and other farm animals including a peacock. Robert enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and visiting with his neighbors. He would put trash cans out for them, get their newspapers, make, and deliver his famous iced tea to them. He loved helping people and was a blessing to his family and others!
We grew up in a wonderful neighborhood with many children and everyone knew Robert. He enjoyed a game of basketball on our driveway or football in the front yard that rarely had grass since it served as one of the neighborhood fields. Robert loved his music, cars, and sports. He could tell you who sang what song on the radio. He had more albums and CDs than the record stores. He could look at a car from a distance and tell you the year, make and model of it. He knew all the statistics of the various sports teams and enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, and corn hole until recent years. Robert was up bright and early for 7 AM church for many years. He looked forward to attending mass and socializing with his church family after mass. Robert loved volunteering at ECCO for many years and looked forward to his Friday morning there.
After the passing of his parents, his siblings, nieces, and nephews continued to care for him even after he moved to memory care facilities. Robert loved all his family and friends and enjoyed nothing more than having all of them together for a celebration!
Robert is survived by his sisters and brother, Ann Marie Forsberg (Dennis), Vincent Kaiser (Jan), Ursula Ferguson (Michael), and Jane Kaiser, all of Charleston. His surviving nieces and nephews are Joseph Kaiser, Lauren Sims (Micah), Natalie Inabnett (Legrand), Elise Wilson (Will), Vince Kaiser, and Thomas Ferguson. He was predeceased by his niece Amanda Kaiser and his nephew Patrick Clarkin. Robert is also survived by his great nieces and nephews, Ursula Leigh Sims, Dominic Sims, Baby Wilson, and Baby Inabnett, both due in August, as well as his devoted aunt Nancy Kruger (Louis), and several other aunts and cousins.
