February 5, 1925- June 28, 2017. In loving memory of R. Gifford “Giff” Beaton of Mount Pleasant, SC.
Born in Ottawa, Canada and a graduate of McGill University, Quebec, Giff earned a Masters degree from Northwestern University, Illinois, in Economic Geography. He was a proud WWII veteran, navigating Lancaster heavy bombers over Europe with the RCAF.
Giff and his family lived in Asia for 10 years. A perpetual traveler for most of his life, he circled the globe several times. Retired from Glaxo SmithKlein, Giff was an avid golf player and Wild Dunes Ambassador for 20 years. He was a lifetime member of the St. Andrews Society of Baltimore and long time member of the Scottish Society of Charleston.
Giff is survived by Connie Beaton, his travel companion and loving wife of 66 years, his brother Stuart , his children Laura, Kim, Randy and Giff, 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
In honor of his wishes, no services are planned.
