Robert G Matysek

Robert G. Matysek, 58, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, died on Sunday, June 8, 2014 in Annapolis, MD. He was born on Tuesday, October 4, 1955 in Baltimore, MD to Helen Grogan Matysek and the late Eugene Edmond Matysek Sr. Robert was a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles and River Dogs baseball fan as well as a big supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He swam in the Great Chesapeake Bay Swim with 19 finishes. Robert was a 10 time finisher of the Low Country Splash. He traveled the world scuba diving with his wife. His family and friends remember him as having a wonderful sense of humor. He was a positive person and brought joy to everyone’s life. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Pat Matysek of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Mother; Helen Matysek of Ellicott City, MD, three brothers; Thomas E. Matysek (Gayle) of Joppa, MD, Joseph A. Matysek (Nancy) of Huntersville, NC; and James F. Matysek (Anna Lea) of Sarasota, FL, nine nieces and nephews, four great nieces and nephews and 1 great great niece. Robert was preceded in death by: his father Eugene E. Matysek and his brother Eugene E. Matysek Jr. Family and friends may gather at the McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC on Thursday, June 12. 2014 from 6-8 PM,where the vigil wake will be held at 6 PM. A Christian Mass of Burial will be held at Christ Our King on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to ECCO, Windwood Farm Home for Children, Inc, and the Lowcountry Food Bank.
