Robert E. Donegan, 94, of Charleston, passed away April 12, 2014. Born in New Orleans, LA, he was the son of the late John and Henrietta Devlin Donegan and husband to the late Dorothy M. Donegan. Mr. Donegan served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Corp and retired as a Major from the United States Air Force Reserves. He worked for and later retired as a Tool Repairman at the Charleston Naval Weapon Station. Mr. Donegan was a member of the V.F.W, Lowcountry Senior Center, The MOAA, The Retired Officers Club. He was an author, artist, musician and woodcraftsman. Bob was especially proud of his book that was published “The Battle of Amen Passâ€. He is survived by his three daughters, Kathleen Gray and husband John of Mauk, GA, Eileen Donegan of Yonges Island and Maureen Donegan of James Island; son, Bobby Donegan of James Island; four grandchildren, Danielle Donegan, Robby Donegan, Sarah Donegan and Chris Donegan. Mr. Donegan was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Donegan and grandson, Jerry Arnold. Graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Beaufort National Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to service from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, JAMES ISLAND CHAPEL.
