Robert Emil 'Bob' Beran

Robert Emil “Bob” Beran of Folly Beach, SC, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on June 2, 2016 at the age of 56, surrounded by his family. Bob was born on April 22, 1960 in Pittsburgh, PA, where he grew up, followed by attending Bucknell University and later receiving his Master’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. During his time at Bucknell, he met his wife of 31 years, Lynn Marie (Decker) Beran. Bob was devoted to cooking for family and friends, proved to be a talented and successful telecommunications professional and never left behind his witty sense of humor. Lynn and Bob raised their family in the Northern Virginia area for 25 years, and relocated to Folly Beach, SC, in 2015. Bob will be remembered as an incredible husband, father, son and brother, who loved his family above all else and whose unforgettable smile was contagious. He will be dearly missed and forever loved by his wife Lynn Marie Beran, four children: Brittany, Blaine, Bianca and Bryan, parents Emil James and Alice Jean (Chezosky) Beran, four siblings: Richard, Debra Genter (Jeffrey), Michael (Hilaire) and Mark (Jill) and 11 nieces and nephews. Visitation services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, from 5 to 8 p.m., at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 347 Folly Road, Folly Beach, SC, 29412. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, June 9, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 56 Center Street, Folly Beach, SC, 29439, followed by a burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in James Island, SC. In addition, a memorial service in celebration of Bob’s life will occur on Saturday, June 18, with further details to be shared.
