Robert “Bob” Norwell Aymar of Folly Beach, South Carolina, a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. He was 86. Robert was born on April 21, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY to Reynold Anthony Aymar and Aldona Lydia (Norwell) Aymar. He was raised with his sister Susan in Port Washington, Long Island. Bob graduated from Port Washington High School and later from Bucknell University with a degree in Commerce and Finance. He also was a member of the ROTC. After graduation, he moved to New York City where he began his career at Saks Fifth Avenue, eventually starting his own successful garment company wholesaling to department stores. While working in New York, Bob met a gal from Hawaii named Marilynn. They soon married and moved to Darien, CT where they raised three sons and enjoyed the coastal life on the shores of Long Island Sound. Once retired Bob and Marilynn moved to Charleston, SC to be close to their youngest son David, and niece Leah Rust.

Bob was a simple, unique individual who thought of his friends and others more than himself. He was an extremely patient man who enjoyed life. Bob’s passions were racing Volvos as a young man, skiing, stamps, cooking, sailing in the summer with his first mate Marilynn, and traveling to Costa Rica yearly. He was also an avid bridge player and enjoyed all board games. Bob loved to sit with people and tell his life stories always mixed in with a bit of humor.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Reynold Anthony Aymar and Aldona Lydia (Norwell) Aymar, sister, Susan Donna Aymar, and oldest son, Donald Aymar.
