Robert Andrew Mazur, 62, of Summerville, SC, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. Bob was born on Friday, November 21, 1952, in New Kensington, PA, a son of the late Violet Mazur and the late Andrew Mazur. He was a member of Old Fort Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Chairman of the nominating committee, and was instrumental in starting the Financial Counseling Ministry. Bob loved sports, especially golf. He was the 2008 Transplant Games Men's Gold Medalist. He was a self-employed businessman for over 25 years, owning several companies in the Charleston area. He will be remembered as a strong, courageous man who loved his family. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Julia Salter. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Janice McVay Mazur, of Summerville, SC; son, Robert A. Mazur, Jr. and his wife, Sarah, of Lakeland, FL; daughter, Joy Mazur and her husband, Mark Rogge, of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren of Lakeland, FL: twins, Andrew and Zachary Mazur; and granddaughter, Catherine Mazur; one brother, Paul (Margaret) Mazur of Eaton Rapids, MI; two sisters: Janice (Victor) Fisk of Apollo, PA; and Kay (Joseph) Norris of Darlington, SC; brother-in-law, Charlie Salter; sister-in-law, Darcy McVay; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 5, 2014, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Old Fort Baptist Church, 10505 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC 29485, with Reverend Eric Lethco and Reverend Randy Sorrow officiating.
