Rita M. Tener

Rita M. Tener , 91, of Mt. Pleasant, SC died on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 with her husband Bill, of 68 years, at her bedside. She was born on Thursday, September 7, 1922 in Springfield , OH to the late Mary Margaret and Eldon P. Freeman. Rita was small in stature but throughout her 91 years she demonstrated a very large zest for life and concern for others. She was uncanny in always remembering birthdays, anniversaries and other important milestones. Rita loved to socialize and her quick wit and spirit make her fun to be with. All she needed was a friend or two, and the party was on. As 'Mrs. Santa Claus', she and her husband Bill. brought joy to many children over the last 30 years. Rita's last few years presented her with numerous medical challenges. She met and survived each one with the same indomitable spirit that shone throughout her life. Rita will be loved and remembered by all those she touched in life. She is survived by: husband; George W. Tener, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, one son; Michael W. Tener (Katrina), of Beckley, WV, two grandchildren; Melissa Dawn Tener Acord, of Oak Hill, WV, and Michael W. Tener II, of Beckley , WV, two great-grandchildren; Miranda Shae Acord and Robert (Bo) Dee Acord; One Brother; Eldon J. Freeman, of Springfield, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Stella Maris Catholic Church, 1204 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island, SC 29482, on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2:30 PM with Rev. Msgr. Lawrence McInerny, J.C.L. officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Friends of Santa Claus, P.O. Box 713 Isle of Palms, South Carolina, 29451, and Brian's Safehouse, P.O.
