Richard Trogler (Dick), 85 of Columbia SC, formerly of Georgetown, MA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday Feb 11, 2025.
Born on July 29, 1939 in Baltimore, MD, Richard was the son of the late Barbara (Beck) Trogler and Clarence Trogler. Around the age of 5, the Troglers moved to the Danvers, MA area where Richard remained living until his older years.
Richard or Dick as everyone called him, was always good with building and construction. After Dick served in the US Navy, he was employed by the carpenters union for many years until he became employed with General Electric out of Lynn, MA. His title at GE was a machinist and he worked for GE until his retirement in the early 2000’s.
After meeting his wife, Dick and Barbara (Goulart) were married in 1972. They planted their roots in Georgetown Ma where Dick built their home from the foundation up. This home became the staple of their family. Raising their three boys in this home, having many family gatherings, holidays and even leaving their door unlocked for others on the occasion that a friend of their sons may need a couch to sleep on. Dick and Barbara welcomed all into their home and showed pride in it.
Dick worked very hard at GE and put in many hours while Barbara was busy taking care of their boys at home. When the boys got older he always made sure to be at a soccer game or a school event by adjusting his schedule. His family was his world and he never wanted to miss anything that was important.
After Dicks retirement, his greatest days were ahead. Dick became a grandfather and earned the title Papi for all the kids that followed. Papi’s grandkids were the joy of his life. Him and Barbara devoted any time that they could to visiting with their grandkids or babysitting when needed . As the kids got older they never missed a sporting/dance/school event or anything special that they could be a part of. Papi remained a constant in his grandkids life even after the passing of his wife Barbara.
Dick will always be remembered for his sense of humor, the strength that he showed in his later years dealing with his disabilities, and the dedication he showed for his family.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Barbara Trogler; his brother, Melvin; and Barbara Trogler (Goulart), his beloved wife of 48 years.
Richard is survived by his 3 sons, Michael, Marc and Stephen; Daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Kristen; along with his Grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley, Madison, Jacob, Caitlin and Adelaide.
Respecting Richard's wishes, his children and their families will be doing a private ceremony at a later date.
